The aim of this course is to introduce students to the Database Systems technology, and illustrate its use for extracting actionable knowledge from Maritime Data.
After completing the course, the students will be aware of the basic maritime monitoring systems, such as the widely used Automatic Identification System or AIS. Moreover, they will be familiar with the basic concepts of Database Management Systems. They will also be able to use database management systems for performing Big Maritime Data analytics.
